RANDOLPH COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES
Thursday, March 6, 2014
The Honorable Commission convened at the Huntsville Courthouse with the following present: Susan Carter, Presiding Commissioner; Wayne Wilcox, Eastern District Commissioner; Jerry Crutchfield, Western District Commissioner and Shelby Creed, Deputy Clerk.
9:00 a.m. Com. Carter called the meeting to order and moved approval of the agenda. Com. Crutchfield seconded and motion passed (3-0).
Interim Road and Bridge Supervisor Dale Herron arrived to discuss road maintenance issues. Mr. Herron reported a dump truck out of commission due to a failed rocker arm, which has since been repaired. He also reported another county dump truck out of commission when the oil pump sending unit failed causing the truck to stall and repairs have been completed.
Com. Crutchfield reported on his attendance in Jefferson City at the Senate Sub-Committee Hearing on Senate Bill 835/ The Sheriff’s Salary Bill, sponsored by Senator Munzlinger. Com. Crutchfield and a dozen other County Commissioners testified against this bill.
Com. Carter returned a call to James Walker, Chariton Valley, to confirm scheduling an interview concerning the proposed county administration building.
Commissioners signed official minutes from February 18, 2014; February 20, 2014; February 25, 2014 and February 27, 2014.
Commissioners reviewed invoices for payment. Following review, Com. Wilcox made a motion to approve payments as presented. Com. Crutchfield seconded, motion passed (3-0), and checks were signed.
11:00 a.m. Circuit Judge Scott Hayes arrived to present the GAL contracts for signature. Following review, the contracts were signed by the Commission. Also discussed was the need for a replacement vehicle for the Juvenile Office.
Bob Bauer stopped in to say hello to the Commission.
12:10 p.m. Com. Carter recessed the regular meeting so Commissioners could travel to Chariton Valley headquarters in Macon to record the informational interview concerning the proposed administrative building.
2:30 p.m. Commissioners returned to the Huntsville Courthouse and reconvened the regular meeting.
Under old business, Scott McGarvy, Marketing Director at MACC, and Danny Ward, Finance Department at MACC, arrived to present the final request for funds for signature for the “Training for Tomorrow” grant.
Com. Wilcox received a call from Brad Gessling, Town & Country Abstract, to discuss the release deeds for Dr. Marvin Mack’s land donation to the county for secure parking at the Justice Center. Com. Wilcox made a motion to approve the legal expenses to pay for recording and legal expenses involved with the donation. Com. Crutchfield seconded and motion passed (3-0).
Chuck Embree, Sports Reporter Moberly Monitor Index, arrived to interview the Commission in conjunction with the paper’s annual Progress Report. Also participating were County Recorder Mark Price and County Clerk Will Ellis.
Brandon Lucas, Fusion Technologies, stopped in to discuss updates to the Commissioners computers.
Commissioners reviewed minutes from March 4, 2014. Following review, Com. Wilcox made a motion to approve these minutes. Com. Crutchfield seconded and motion passed (3-0).
Commissioners handled correspondence.
4:00 p.m. Meeting was adjourned.
