RANDOLPH COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES
Thursday, May 2, 2013
The Honorable Commission convened at the Huntsville Courthouse with the following present: Susan Carter, Presiding Commissioner; Wayne Wilcox, Eastern District Commissioner; Jerry Crutchfield, Western District Commissioner; and Shelby Creed, Deputy Clerk.
9:00 a.m. Com. Carter called the meeting to order and moved approval of the agenda with one addition: John Cochran will be stopping in to discuss the county health insurance renewal. Com. Crutchfield seconded and motion passed (3-0).
During a routine audit reviewing Commission records it was brought to the attention of the Commission that the sale of the mineral rights to the McKeown families approved February 28, 2012 had not been finalized. Following review, Com. Wilcox made a motion to give the family 90 days to complete the sale or the offer to sell will be withdrawn. Com. Crutchfield seconded and motion passed (3-0). Com. Wilcox contacted two members of the McKeown family and informed them of the Commission’s decision.
Commissioners reviewed invoices for payment. Following review, Com. Wilcox made a motion to approve payments as presented. Com. Crutchfield seconded, motion passed (3-0), and checks were signed.
Commissioners reviewed payroll expenses. Following review, Com. Crutchfield made a motion to approve expenses as presented. Com. Wilcox seconded, motion passed (3-0), and checks were signed.
10:00 a.m. Jennifer Wilson, nForm Architecture, arrived to discuss the county facility needs.
12:15 p.m. County Clerk Will Ellis arrived to open up the one bid received for mowing the Thomas Hill Cemetery: Kellen Raney, $75 per cut. Following review of the bid, Com. Wilcox made a motion to accept the bid from Kellen Raney in the amount of $75 per cut with a limit of 15 cuts. Com. Crutchfield seconded and motion passed (3-0).
Com. Wilcox returned a call to Wayne Walter, CR 1870, who requested rock.
Commissioners received a call from Aaron McVicker, SKW, to schedule a meeting between the landowners and the Commission to discuss right-of-way for the CR 2660 BRO bridge project.
1:15 p.m. John Cochran and Sara Smothers, Valentine Insurance, arrived to discuss county health insurance. County Clerk Will Ellis also arrived to sit in on the meeting.
1:45 p.m. Com. Carter adjourned the regular meeting so Commissioners could attend the 911 Joint Communications meeting at the backup EOC/ Randolph County Ambulance District at 2:00.
